Re: Capital Lease Discussion
Great, thanks a lot. That makes much more sense. If you were to include capital leases in the capital structure, would they be above common equity/preferred stock (in the context of a distressed situation).

Re: Capital Lease Discussion
Ok, that makes sense. When looking at credit ratios, however, do you account for capital leases?

Minority interest included as debt
I believe that before we were told to include minority interest as debt. I am somewhat confused as to whether we should do this when levering and unlevering beta. By including it as debt, wouldn't we be assuming minority interest is tax deductible?

Capital Lease Discussion
Hi, I have read through the capital explanations but am still somewhat confused. Why do we not include capital leases as a form of debt? From what I read, you said "Capital leases are capital leases b/c the accountants said so. Else they would be operating leases and off-balance sheet." By this, do ... Read More

Straight Line Instead of Effective Interest?
Hi, Would you like us to always amortize the discount/premium using the straight line approach or should we sometimes use the effective interest method? Thanks for the assistance.

TGT Debt for ROC
Hi, is there a reason why we use debt of 8872 instead of 9872 for TGT when calculating ROC? Thanks for the assistance.

2005A EBIT
Hi, would you like us to use the 2005A EBIT numbers from the video (which for Kohl's, Sears, and Target seem to be the unadjusted EBIT numbers) or would you like us to use the ones that are automatically pulled by the links on the given template? Thank you for the assistance.

Color Coding
I am slightly confused about the color coding: in the Dealcomps sheet, when entering a hardcoded formula (for example, cash for May Dept. Stores was "-22-40"), we use the color black; however, in the Complex Trading Comps worksheet, when entering a hardcoded formula (for example, debt for Walmart wa... Read More

Marshall's Cash
Could you explain to me why we do not subtract Marshall Field's cash ($25 million) to get enterprise value?

Great, thank you. In addition, how should preferred stock be treated when levering and unlevering beta?
