I have an empty background (education/experience) except in snow-shoveling..and when I read about Private Equity or Investment Banking, I come across the modeling subject and this one and only question-
How many [types of] financial models do IB & PE firms use? I mean what analyst, associates, VPs, & MDs use everyday - not accountants or other similar firms who use models that have nothing to do with IB or PE? If, 20 years from now, I landed a job in PE or IB, I need to know from the first day how many model 'types' will I make/use/look at within all my career (of hopefully more than 2 days)..
The ones I found are called Valuation, DCF, Merger, LBO, & Acquisition models. Are there any more? Can you "name" them; and perhaps provide a couple of words describing what they do? -- example "....a valuation model is used to show how much a company is worth...."
